Hersheyettes Weekend Get Away:  We had a great time. The Breakers is really great and fit our (12 person) needs wonderfully. The fact that everyone could park in your private parking lot made loading and unloading easy. Once we parked our cars on Friday, we never needed them again until we left. Everything we wanted, beach, shopping, restaurants and the Acme, were within one to three blocks. After check-in we went right to the beach (less than a half block away) for afternoon cocktails and upon returning to the house, all 6 couples had plenty of room on the upstairs deck for watching the sun set and the moon come up. Saturday we had some rain, but there was more than enough room for the whole crew to sit on the porch, talk and people watch. The house was very clean and very well appointed, and our group thought that it came with more utensils, glass and cooking ware, amenities, etc., than any other rental properties we have encountered. We enjoyed having all those bathrooms and we loved the two kitchens as one became the bar and one the cooking kitchen. Thank you again. On behalf of the "Hersheyettes" The husband who was made to "look good" by booking the Breakers!"

Excellent Experience:
The Breakers is a lovely home, in the perfect location of an exquisite town. Cape May has so many diverse activities in addition to the sandy beach, and they are easily accessed from this address. The home itself is a beautiful victorian, furnished and decorated from that period. It is stocked with everything that you can imagine and is the perfect place for celebrations among family and friends. There were 8 women celebrating yet another "decade birthday year," and we each had our own rooms and bathrooms, and plenty of space for fun as a group, conversations of two or three, or our own private time. Because so many activities and restaurants are nearby, we could easily go in different directions for some things and return to the house throughout the day to regroup and plan. Whether circled around the large dining room table or in rocking chairs on the front porch, we were surrounded by a warm and friendly atmosphere, yet still luxurious and special. We plan to return every year - at least each spring and possibly the fall as well. we've found the perfect spot

"More space the merrier!"
We stayed at the beautiful Breakers for a friend's wedding in March. It was the perfect place to stay. There were 14 of us (6 couples and 2 singles) and we all got our own room with our own bathroom. The house was spotless when we arrived, fully stocked with whatever you could need. It was beautifully decorated in the traditional Victorian style (no detail went unnoticed when decorating and updating the Breakers) yet it was homey and comfortable. The Breakers was a short walk to Congress Hall (where the wedding was held) and a very close walk to Washington ave for those of us who wanted to shop! It was a great weekend-we even could enjoy the top deck even though it snowed the day before... the weather cooperated for 24 hours! Thank you for letting us use your home. We had a blast.

Beautiful Home
18 members of our family spent the weekend in Cape May to celebrate our mothers 80th birthday. The Breakers was the perfect home for our function. The furnishings were beautiful, the bedrooms comfortable and there was ample room & dinnerware for a sit down dinner. We enjoyed it so much we are making it a yearly tradition! Barbara Tillman was accommodating and a pleasure to work with.

Cherished time at The Breakers
Enjoyed a wonderful family weekend to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday at The Breakers! The accommodations were wonderful and comfortable for all 21 of us. Cape May is a charming town offering something for everyone. It is especially pretty at Christmas time.

Wonderful Time in a Beautiful Home
We visited The Breakers for New Year's. Our party ranged in age from 75 to 3 and everyone had a great time. The house is a beautiful Victorian and it was decorated for Christmas, which was a very nice surprise.
The location of this house could not be more perfect. It is close to the beach and the center of town. The mall is within walking distance, making getting around very convenient.
We loved our time at the Breakers and we are already talking about going back next year.

Wonderful Home!
Our family gathered for our dad/grandpa's 70th birthday and The Breakers was the perfect place to celebrate this milestone! The home is perfectly located within walking distance to the beach and the town center. Even though we were there in the off-season there was still plenty to do: take photos on the beach, historic carriage rides, shopping or lunch, or just walking through town to check out all of the beautiful Victorian homes decked out for the holidays. The Breakers itself is charming in all of its Victorian glory yet remains very livable and comfortable. We had a large group with children ranging in ages from 1-14 years old and we all had room to play games, read, cook, or just hang out together. The 2 parlors allowed for the kids to watch a movie in one while the guys checked out the football game in another. We also did alot of cooking during our stay and the two kitchens did not disappoint! Both were well-equipped and easy to work in. All of the bedrooms were spacious, private and very comfortable, each with their own bathroom. When you have 6 families under one roof, this is key!
All in all, our time at The Breakers was a truly wonderful experience; we will cherish the memory of our dad/grandpa's 70th birthday celebration forever.

"Beautiful, peaceful, amazing location!"
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Breakers. It's a stunning home, inside and out. Beautiful decor, up-to-date kitchens (yes, two), more than enough bathrooms, front and back porches, and a sun deck on the top floor. The neighborhood is just as beautiful, and everything is within walking distance - beach, shops, restaurants, everything. My favorite thing to do was sit on the front porch and watch people come and go on carriage rides, family walks, and bike rides. I would go there again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to any family or group looking for a spacious rental in an ideal location.

"Great for the whole family"
this grand home easily accomodated my extended family with lots of space and superior amenities. It is in a perfect location so we could walk to beach, shops and restaurants.
The front porch is wonderful for watching the happy life of families walking by.

"A great place to relax"
Guest:  A Grateful Mom from Columbia, MD, on 10/25/12 for a stay on 10/12/12
It was our family's first time to Cape May and our first home rental experience. We needed a break from the hustle and bustle and the Breakers provided that experience. The vastness of the house gave us space to spread out and relax. We walked the boardwalk, walked around town, and baked dozens of cookies. The location within town was perfect! We were in the middle of it all but somehow "our" house and street felt private. The historic house was a great place to remind us of simpler days.

"Birthday Party"

My six siblings and our spouses (14) spent a long weekend at the Breakers in Cape May. It had been a while since we had all been together so we decided to get a place for what would have been our father's 100th Birthday. The house was perfect and worked so well for so many people. Each couple had their own room and bath. The dinning room was large enough for everyone to sit at the table for the birthday dinner. We were close to town and the beach. Barbara was great to work with. The Breakers is top on our list for a great large group get together spot.

BEST HOUSE WE HAVE EVER RENTED!!!!!!

This house is incredible!!! So beautiful and so spacious. There are two kitchens which is so helpfull when you have a large family to feed; and the dining room is spacious enough to accomodate everyone at the table for dinner (our favorite moments). But the porch ...did I mention the porch...it is the best feature of the house. We sat out there day and night. There is so much activity to see and and be a part of at this location. Not only is the house great but the location is spectacular. Within blocks of any place you would like to go. The beach, Ice cream, restaurants, dining everything you will need is within walking distance including the Acme Grocery Store. "THE BEST HOUSE RENTAL IN CAPE MAY'!!!!!!

We rented this house for Labor Day weekend for a college reunion event. Overall I'm very satisfied with it. The location is great. It's almost by the sea and we could just walk back & forth from the beach bare feet. The house is well maintained and it's very spacious, great if your group size is around 20 people. We ended up having 19 adults staying in the house and that easily fit into the many bedrooms and couches (convertible to beds). The amenities are also good. There are two kitchens, full set of plates/silverware, easily accommodates cooking for 20 people. There are two very new TV sets; wireless network works well which turned out useful for us because we brought some video games. Overall I'm very satisfied with this rental. It's ideal if you have a group size around 20 and looking for a quality weekend by the ocean.

Pictures do not do this house justice. It has everything one would want in a rental. To have two kitchens and multiple full size baths really made this house work for us. It is furnished like no other rental I know. We rented for a long weekend for our parent's 80th B-Day. 7 married couples - 23 of us total from age 5 to 80, and there was plenty of room. The location couldn't be better. In the heart of everything Cape May. I highly recommend this house. Very nice owner too. Great location. Great house. Great memories.

The Most amazing Victorian House

People use the word "amazing" too often these days but I have to say it applies to The abbey. My husband, friends and I rented The abbey over a recent fall weekend and could not have had a better time. The house is large, clean, wonderfully decorated and the details wowed everyone. It's right in the center of town, a 5 minute walk from all of the shops and attractions. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, large kitchen and great porch to sit outside and watch the world go by. If you need, there is plenty of room for at least 8 cars in the driveway. A big plus in a town where parking is at a premium.

If you appreciate Victorian architecture, antiques and modern amenities, then The abbey is for you. Thank you, Barbara, for letting us into your wonderful home.

I never want to stay anywhere else!

We had an amazing experience at the abbey! My family of four (kids ages 2 & 4) stayed there for 4 days along with 3 other families (all with kids the same age). There was plenty of room for everyone & we even had unused rooms. Split 4 ways, the price was very reasonable. And we loved the fact that we could rent by the night (whereas most places require a week-long rental).

The home is beautiful. Honestly breathtaking. And it is so well maintained. Initially, we were a little concerned that the kids would wreak havoc on the antiques; however, we were happy to find upon our arrival that there weren't many breakables within reach. Although this is a beautiful "bed and breakfast" style home, I was happy to find many comforts of a more modern home. For example, the beds were very comfortable and not squeaky, the bathrooms have been redone and are in great condition, the televisions/DVD players are new & impressive and the kitchens are fabulous. With so many people, it was great to have 2 kitchens to spread out in. And they have a Keurig coffee machine...so nice! Another thing we loved about the place was the beautiful porch, where we would relax after the kids went to bed.

The abbey couldn't have been in a better location. It is one block from the beach, an arcade and the mall.

We received excellent service. The owner and the property manager communicated regularly and quickly. They were more than accommodating. Also, I appreciated the fact that the owner, Barbara, emailed us the night we left to let us know that our security deposit would be refunded in full (a major victory given the 8 kids).

There is really nothing negative about the house. There are a lot of staircases, which can be dangerous with toddlers, so I recommend bringing a gate if you are traveling with young ones. Honestly, though, I never want to stay anywhere else again. My 4 year old daughter summed it up best when she asked me, "Mom, is this 'castle' a dream?"

Annual family outing a success
Our rather large family has been vacationing in Cape May for years. The Abbey was absolutely perfect for us - the large double kitchen area was a life saver, the large front porch and yard were perfect for lounging, and of course having all of the individual rooms with private baths was outstanding. Being able to park all of our cars easily was a definite plus, and the location near the beach and center of town was ideal. Highly recommend the property - we will definitely be renting again

Perfect Historic Cape May Home!
The Abbey is the perfect rental for large families! This amazing historic home has 9 bedrooms and 91/2 bathrooms. Our entire family was very comfortable with air conditioning in every bedroom and throughout the entire home. We vacationed during a very hot week and everyone was cool and comfortable. The two modern kitchens were a treasure! They became the focal point, as most kitchens do, of our nightly dinners and celebrations! The owners equipped the kitchens with all the comforts of home. The enormous front porch and spacious lawns provided our family with room to quietly read books or enjoy lawn games together. The Abbey is perfectly located on a quiet street; walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. We seldom needed to take our cars out of the 10 car parking lot the entire week. We have looked and stayed at many homes in Cape May, but never have we found one that truly met our family's needs. We hope The Abbey will be our yearly get away for many years to come!

I wanted to thank all of you for all that you did to support a marvelous family vacation for my mother-in-law and the families of her five adult children. We sat down to amazing dinners in the dining room every evening, and every day we enjoyed the incredible house, the beach, the birds, biking, shopping, sitting on the porch, and playing badminton in the yard.
We would love to come back next year.

... the house is wonderful and the kitchen is amazing. We loved the outdoor tables, and ate outside every breakfast and dinner. We fielded lots of questions about the house from passerbys. Your attention to detail was very much appreciated. The fully equipped kitchen and beach chairs were great plusses. Everyone should appreciate the fact that you resurrected this house. I also appreciate yours and Bob and Becky's prompt responses. My family and I had a wonderful vacation.

We loved the house, it was everything that we hoped it would be. The rental process was organized and easy. We enjoyed exploring the house as much as the rest of the activities that were part of our girl's weekend.
